Duct Tape Spring Vase by DuckTapeBandit Duct Tape Spring Vase by DuckTapeBandit
I just got a new computer and have yet to install photoshop and my wacom stuff so I just cropped this picture in paint lol. I'll probably resubmit when I get photoshop back on my computer.

Anyway this is another vase I made for my work (Duck Brand Duct Tape) and this one is currently sitting in their lobby. I haven't added up the hours on this vase yet but it usually takes me about 25+ hours to make one of these and I have a feeling this one took longer then that. All the flowers and foliage in the vase are made of duct tape and are my own design and will eventually have tutorials for them up on www.ducktapeclub.com. The vase stands approx. 2 1/2 feet tall.

EDIT: Just added up the hours for this vase and it took me 36.5 hours! Holy cats!

Question, the center of your sunflowers are they individual rolled petals put together? Great job!

They're tiny little triangles layered in a circle.

It's pretty... also, might you tell me how much duct tape you used for this project? if it isn't a bother...

I wish I could remember maybe 3-5 rolls of green, 1 yellow, 1 light blue, 1 black, 1 brown, 1 dark blue, and about 3 white.

i love this! i just made a sunflower out of duct tape around a pen, but i screwed up and made the petals round instead of pointed. also i have no wire so mine doesn't look as elegant and natural.

Oh, wow. I don't really have anything intelligent or unique to say, so I'll just go with, "this is gorgeous." XD;

I'm especially impressed with the centers of the black-eyed Susans and the daisies (I'm identifying them correctly, right?). They must have taken forever to make, with all those tiny individual parts. I love it!

I suppose they could be called black-eyed susans if they were smaller lol :giggle: , they're supposed to be sunflowers I guess its hard to tell the size of them in the photo but the sunflowers meausre probably 6-8 inches across.

Has anyone asked you to do their flowers for a wedding? This would be the furthest thing from tacky, and much more impressive than just buying false ones.
Think about how much you would sell those for, because someone might be impressed enough to commission it for a wedding.

I've been asked a few times but I can't even imagine how time consuming doing an entire wedding would be. I've thought about doing some for my own wedding though, when ever that will be lol.

You speak truly. To invest in even one of those arrangements would be an exhausting process. Guess it depends how big and fancy the wedding is. Maybe just a bouquet for a bride, but not likely, if there are to be real flowers.
Still, it's a lovely idea! Keep at your talents.

oo love it, flower arranging points for you too :)

i love the look of the leaves from the side but theres something not quite right for the fern esque look (i assume thats what you're going for) i wonder if maybe creating a pointed edge on the seperate strips would add to the look or maybe having a twist of many pieces of finer wire down the middle instead of a single one and then adding that into some of the strips so they can be separated a little bit :)

That is amazing, and at a passing glance I would think they were just real flowers with maybe something sprayed on them to make 'em shiny! lol The details of this are amazing (like how it seems that the line always goes through the petal down the middle, and the leaf details), the correctness of the flowers looks good to me as well (how long did a sunflower take?!). Just as well, the arrangement itself looks wonderful, haha...man, you take flower-arranging to the next level!! A beautiful bouquet that will never wither.

Aw thank you! Well to answer your question about the sunflowers each sunflower takes about 3-4 hours to make.

Those sunflower-esque flowers look like they must have taken hours to do. The finished piece is lovely. The colors are very nice together, and there's not too much green versus flowers [or vice versa] The different textures make this really fun to look at for a long stretch. The various textures add depth and interest to the piece.
